North America and Europe (with possible most of the rest of the world) used different notation. If sold in Europe the chromed grill and the raised hood/bonnet would indeed have pointed towards 264. However in North America they skipped the numbers for a while (between 1980 and I believe 1985) and only used some letters. Also: most models had a raised hood/bonnet. Volvo DL usually had a black grille. Volvo GL had a chromed grille, but still the four cylinder fuel injected B21F or B23E engine. Usually equipped with velour upholstery. Volvo GLE had the B28F V6 engine, and usually equipped with all extras there was, including leather upholstery. Links: Link to "www.volvotips.com" (1983) and Link to "www.volvotips.com" (1982). I rather believe this is a Volvo GL, possibly 1983+ because of the new bumper. -- Last edit: 2014-10-18 10:06:36 |

Actually this was never called "240 GL" but just Volvo GL in the North America years 1980 until 1985. |
