Dodge WDX Power Wagon of 1946-1950 as noted by the 4 stake bed. |

What is a "4 stake bed", 4x4peru? |

4 holes on top of bed rails? These days, a shortbed would have 4 and a long bed would have 6. |

The first generation Power Wagon (WDX) rear cargo bed has 4 vertical channels along each side, known as "stake pockets" in which upright 2x4 lumber "stakes" could be inserted to help built a cargo body above the bed thereby increasing the capacity of the bed. First Generation has 4 "stake pockets", 2nd generation had 3 pockets with curved metal and 3rd had 3 pockets with straight pockets and flat top rails. It is a way to identify the model years of the Dodge Power Wagon ('46-71) truck when the cabs all looked similar. "4 stake bed is '46-50". It is what one looks for (along the the late model extended grille of the 251 engine) on these models trucks. -- Last edit: 2014-10-24 12:39:25 |
