Likely Seneffe built, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH5sVzNewrw![]() And other LHD ones /vehicle.php?id=988948 , /vehicle.php?id=198977 ... Although the dash was made to accommodate both LHD and RHD. |

I can't find any dates for Seneffe SD1s start or finish dates, or which versions they made. I would also be wary of assuming that there was clean separations of RHD=UK and LHD=Seneffe production - BL switched both permutations between both countries fairly frequently across many other models - eg selling RHD Seneffe-built Maxis, Minis etc in UK - so it was probably as fluid (and therefore as unsolvable) as for instance the discussions we've had for Opel/Vauxhall Cavaliers. That said, it seems reasonable to assume Benelux SD1s at least were likely to be Seneffe-builds. As for this particular one, if original, it can be better dated now to July 79 V8-S with the alloys (which would have been gold) but before the Jan 80 wing badges. |

Indeed no mention at all of Seneffe in "Rover SD1: The Full Story" Link to "books.google.be" |

Maybe imcdb is ahead of the curve again ..... The only reference I found is this comment from Sweden "Very interesting story about Seneffe and now I know where the old Rover SD1 (ser.no 38625) was built which I scrapped a few years ago. I saved the plate (NV Leyland Industries Belgium) but must admit that the build quality (panelwork and paint) seemed to be similar to UK build quality. Most mechanical parts were OK and now help me to keep my 1977 year SD1 running. It is presently the oldest Series 1 on Swedish roads." from AROnline's Seneffe page ... which also throws in that Seneffe built some Range Rovers, and that BL often switched production batches to Seneffe to fill gaps when UK was on strike. |

Does this mean that the Seneffe built cars were a similar load of ordure as the Birmingham built ones? -- Last edit: 2019-03-30 08:58:07 |

The car at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH5sVzNewrw has no rust, therefore the owner praises Seneffe rust proofing. Personally I'm not so sure it was a factory job, could be the first owner that had it done. |
