According to Wikpedia and HowStuffWorks, the first 88 was unveiled in 1949. But none of the cars of the first model years fits this one...![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2015-01-11 01:30:06 |

@ AA (Anonymous Admin) and Marco99: thanks for the Oldsmobile lead. This kind of coupé was called Club Sedan and available as: • 1941-48 Oldsmobile Series 60: ![]() (1946 66 Club Sedan) • 1941-48 Oldsmobile Series 70: ![]() (1946 76 Club Sedan) • 1942-47 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser 98: ![]() (1946 98 Club Sedan) All 98 models seem to have had rear fender skirts and/or a different B-pillar (at least for some MY), so this one is most certainly a Series 60 or a Series 70. No 1943-45 model year of course. The chrome trim obviously don't fit for 1941 / 42 and 48 model years. And wen comparing 1946 cars to 1947 one, I'll say "our" black beauty has indeed a 1946 model year. But the model remains to be determined: a Special 66 (the 6-cylinder engine was the only available one in 1946) and its 119"/3,02 m wheelbase or a Dynamic Series 70 (125"/3,17 m wb)? ⇒ 1946 Oldsmobile unknown Club Sedan? -- Last edit: 2015-01-11 05:08:18 |
