I think plate is something like GYR 776N = 74 but too many blurs to pursue. Red with lights = Met Police Diplomatic Patrol Group as this Vanguards VA08902 Austin 1800 Mk2, but this is Mk3 (date, no over-riders) and probably 2200. Actual car may be traceable from lists if anyone can decide exact plate. Update - the Vanguards car has GUC 379N plate = RED 1974 AUSTIN 1800 AUTO 4 DOOR SALOON and has description "The Diplomatic Protection Group was formed in 1976 and the cars they used then and now are ordered in red so that the foreign diplomats they were assigned to protect could easily identify them from ordinary police cars. The Austin 1800 seen here was the very first DPG car and had the call sign 'Ranger 3'". However ADO17 was replaced in 75 by ADO71, so they were reusing old ADO17s for DPG in 76. Anyone think this plate is GUC 379N?? Or?? |
