Why is almost every car on this street from the 1970s or older? Does the plot involve time travel? ![]() |
◊ 2015-05-27 12:32 |
Because that is the period of really cool cars ![]() |

Definitely agree with that. I just found it odd that they would choose to use almost all older cars in this scene and newer cars in others... |

Oversized rot prone poorly engineered gas guzzlers. If you want a halcyon period for cars, look into the 1920s, from the cheap solid practicality of a Model T Ford or an Austin Seven to the luxury of a Packard or a Rolls-Royce Phantom I, there has never been a decade to match this era. |

The 60's, 70's and 80's is what I call the box generation of cars, and my favorite era of cars. |

The movie does have time travel, but it has nothing to due with this setting. The 60's and 70's cars help show some of the beach atmosphere during this part of the film. |

I like the fact that people have strong preference for different eras. Gives me hope that cars from all periods will be preserved and appreciated. For me, large sedans from the end of World War II through the mid 60's are my favorites. |

Ironic that people associate older cars with beaches, seeing as beaches are also associated with rust (at least here on the east coast)... |

The timeline must be 1979 or something like that. Few scene has modern cars and the cannonball scene has 60s-70s cars. The modern car came back in that bubble tsunami scene. Time set is a mix of 2015 and 1975. |

Wikipedia says that residents of Savannah, GA can let the film crew use low riders and classic cars to probably reflect the beach theme. These cars even have false "salty shoals" license plates. |

Perhaps it's the difference in how the beaches were handled back then. When I was a child in the late 50's and 1960's in Florida, cars were allowed on the beach without restriction. I associate the beach with cars of that era. |

The only "non 70s" car is the Jeep CJ-7 seen. |
