weren't they Dutch-built? |
◊ 2007-01-16 16:05 |
I think they were actually a rebadged DAF |

It seems that the first season was filmed in Mexico and the second in Israel: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0101226/usercomments http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0101226/board/nest/56853785 I think that the third season must be South Africa and/or Mauritius, because the Volkswagen Transporter is right hand drive (look at the windscreen wipers): /vehicle_80552-Volkswagen-Transporter-Typ-2-T3.html -- Last edit: 2007-01-16 16:27:14 |

The Volvo 66 was a rebadged DAF, but the 300-series were designed after that Volvo bought DAF I think (but it was made in the ex-DAF plant if I remember wel). |

The Volvo/DAF 300 series models were never sold in the USA or Canada. |

Remarkable indeed. This Volvo was however DAF designed, or at least the Project was started when it was still DAF. And all 343/340/345 are built in Holland. Therefor I think we can give this a Dutch marker rather than a Swedish one... This also apllies for the Volvo 66. They where built at the factory in Borne, Limburg near the Belgium border, where currently the smart fortwo and Mitsubishi Colt are built and previously the Volvo 440/460/480, smart Forfour and Mitsubishi Carisma.... -- Last edit: 2007-01-16 18:21:54 |

I agree |
◊ 2007-01-16 18:24 |
If other admins agree can you do a script conversion on the other 343/340/345/360? There are quite a few more. Maybe we should talk about the 440/460/480 too, I also know they where built in Holland. But I do not know if they where built exclusively here.... ![]() |

Isn't the 400-series are Volvo-enough to be considered as Swedish cars, no? Though that the 300-series is maybe also considered as Swedish car? I do not really remember, but I think that there was a discussion about that previously... |
◊ 2007-01-16 19:14 |
well all volvos are considered swedish IMO... if this is dutch just because it was designed and made in Netherlands, then same is series 400 and S/V40.. Lets stay on swedish I think ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-01-16 19:14:56 |

"just because it was designed and made in Netherlands"... but if it was designed and made there, what is the Swedish part, except the name? ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-01-16 20:17:41 |

I think it should be changed to Holland. If it is produced from that country it ought to be labelled as such, regardless of parent company branding. ..Any Toyota Yaris should be labelled France too ![]() |
◊ 2007-01-16 23:21 |
No, that is not the goal of that "origin" flag. A Yaris is a japanese car, no matter where it is built. It is the "spiritual" origin country. -- Last edit: 2007-01-16 23:22:13 |

There is a difference between Volvo 34x, 66 (ecpecially 66) and Yaris, those Volvos were designed in the Netherlands, Toyota wasn't designed in France. However I agree, it would be nice to add info about place (country) where the car is produced. |

In that case the spiritual origin of the DAF > Volvo 3xx series will be Holland as that was where it was conceived, designed & produced. Yes I think it should be changed. |
