Buick Century? |

Looks like a 1986-88 to me. Edit: And I think it's a Chevrolet, not a Buick. -- Last edit: 2015-04-23 02:05:27 |

NEVER HAD Chevrolet badges, even says Buick in the grille and Buick hood ornament and Buick labels on trunk and C pillars. If were sold in Mexico in Chevrolet car dealers, doens´t mean that also were knowed as Chevrolet (And same explanation can be applied to Cutlass Ciera built and sold in Mexico) |

Sold as a Buick in Mexico: https://auto.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-693816226-buick-century-century-limited-_JM - note the sticker in the shot with the engine bay exposed. Look at the sticker on the shock mount (all in Spanish). That indicates this is not a US spec model. I agree with carobserver about leaving this as a Buick. |

These ads from Mexico disagree: Link to "blog.consumerguide.com" |

Interesting find night cub. I cannot argue there ![]() That still leaves me with questions though. Why does the one I linked have Buick badges on the front grille/steering wheel? Very confusing. I really wish we had some VIN examples to use so we can see for certain what the VIN decodes. Well I changed the parameters on Mercado libre night cub and found these: https://listado.mercadolibre.com.mx/chevrolet-century#D[A:chevrolet century] - which solidifies the link you listed. |

From what I understand, Mexico used to tax basic cars a lower rate than luxury car brands, so for the Big 3, those brands were Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford. The other makes (Pontiac/Oldsmobile/Buick/Cadillac/Mercury/Lincoln/Chrysler) were considered luxury cars. |

@baube. I was simply using it as a reference for what is being resold in Mexico. Just as reliable as GTcarlot without a VIN shot. |
