It's supposed to be a police car, but has nothing on it identifying it as such. Although the officers inside are in full uniform (!). |

Police spec Cortinas were basic trim (L) but often had uprated oily bits (suspension etc). A GL would have been far too luxurious. |

This Cortina getting destroyed is one of the stranger aspects of the film. As I said it gets blown up. Not only does this leave a gigantic hole in the ground like in a cartoon, but the car flies up and lands perfectly upright on all four wheels (!!!). |
