This looks more like a Mazda BT50/Ford Ranger (but it is specifically a Ford with this tail light design)![]() -- Last edit: 2015-05-22 00:30:29 |

@JB - Australia didn't develop this Ranger, only the T6 (the model after this one). EDIT: it seems Ford Australia might have been responsible for designing the PK facelift, but I still don't think that counts as the vehicle's origin. For example, the 1990 Toyota Previa was designed by Toyota USA but we don't list the origin as USA. -- Last edit: 2015-05-25 11:28:20 |

As other PK are listed that way, I guess it counts... On Wikipedia they say "The second-generation Ranger has been designed by Ford Australia, with a Mazda derivative to be sold as the BT-50." -- Last edit: 2015-05-25 22:31:34 |

Wikipedia often has incorrect information. There are no references given in the article, and I can't find anything else on any other websites to support that. The T6 was the only Ranger to be completely designed and engineered in Australia. The previous models were not engineered here at all, since they were based on older underpinnings. If Australia in fact designed the PK facelift (which was just that, only a facelift), it was superficial sheet metal changes only and didn't involve any major mechanical changes to the vehicle. Does altering the front grille and tail-lights really change a vehicle's country of origin?? -- Last edit: 2015-05-26 11:25:43 |

So what is it? Japan origin? I guess it is a misinterpretation of "designed by Ford Australia". Though that it is difficult to say at which point the origin changes. Some sedan versions of hatchback cars got a different origin just for being a slightly modified version. |

Well, the Mazda BT-50, which is it's twin, is listed on this site as being of Thai origin. So I'd say that for consistency, the Ranger should too. |
