... due to dual rear wheels ![]() 1968-83 (1968-79, here). The A31 and its plastic grille was unveiled in 1983 (cs), i.e. 4 years after the release date of the movie. -- Last edit: 2015-06-01 17:38:39 |

@eLMeR - in fact Avia A31 didn't get this wide plastic grille untill 1992 (pre-serial trucks) and 1993 (serial ones), when Turbo models were introduced. In 1983 cabs of first A31s were nearly identical with last A30s. On linked site they used this 1990s design only to mark subpages. |

Thanks for this precision: I though Avia followed the mid-1977 change of the Saviem / Renault trucks with a few years delay... |

Of course it was the same also with A21. ![]() |

... meaning that telling the difference between an A15, an A20 and an A21 in a 1983-92 movie is almost impossible? The number of unknown Avia trucks should be bigger, I suspect a lot of guesses ![]() -- Last edit: 2015-06-02 02:33:54 |

There were visible external cab's changes. Not exactly since 1983, but during the 80s, the A21/A31 started to have black frames of headlights and modified all black grille (but still of the same, late 60s Saviem, size and shape). Also earlier there were subtle changes - during the 1970s they replaced bigger grille badge with smaller one and perhaps mirrors too. In case of fourgons, together with introduction of A20 F in 1979 (in place of A15 F), the side walls and roof line had to be changed. Exact dates of most of such changes are hard to verify. Anyway there are some "points", which help to narrow down the "search area". -- Last edit: 2015-06-02 16:57:29 |

The IMCDb, or how to learn a little bit more every day ![]() |

Yes you can learn something every day indeed ![]() How to explain this in context of information from 1992 catalogue and this site - http://www.avia-club.com/model/avia-a31-5 (1993 - new plastic front mask)? But this grille is different (than on the Avia-Club thumbs) and in fact it is exactly same like in Saviems (when the 1990s one wasn't). If it is factory made vehicle, and not customization, then this wide grille had to be used in the 1980s in parallel with old one. In 1991 new Avias still had the old/narrow one: https://automoto.ua/Avia-a31-1991-Donetsk-8226704.html -- Last edit: 2015-06-03 21:49:51 |
