Skoda 1200/1201 - would say 1200 it doesn't appear to have front indicators. -- Last edit: 2015-06-16 08:33:50 |

Confirmed no sidelights; plate is ABC 1 format - with H as first letter and number might be 3 - a posh maybe official combination which might be diplomatic/embassy??. Mid-50s Skodas in UK very mysterious - one normally good book has no mention of 1200/1201, and Glass's is unusually vague - the UK distributor listed as a garage in Glasgow with nothing in London. 1200 arrived sometime in 1954 and had split windscreen until single pane in Oct 55. 1201 saloon arrived Apr 56 until Dec 58 (and Glass's has more descriptive info from this point, though no mention of sidelights), and estate in Oct 57 until Dec 59, a year after saloon dropped. And it only got a heater as standard from Jan 59, so some potential for Cold War = Cold Cars jokes until then. |

The modified fenders with indicator lights next to headlamps were used already in 1200 made in the years 1954-56. So 1956 model should have them (this one doesn't), but maybe there were exceptions on some export markets... The division of front window was rather "subtle" and not always can be well visible: Link to "pl.wikipedia.org" |

Re-ran sequence and now think split screen so 54-55. Can't really see the bar, but there is a slight kink in body above centre of screen and bar position, not a totally straight edge. |
