Depends on the state. California allowed four warning lights until around 1995 and I think Indiana allowed it up until around 1999. By the way the body is a Wayne Lifeguard. |

In New York, and most of the states that bordered it, it was strictly two until 1973. |

Virginia was a late adopter of the 8-way warning lamp system and to my knowledge its still not legal in Wisconsin. They apparently like to get caught by surprise. |
