The Lincoln is definitly a 1975 or a 76 model as the top main pic for the car is from the original "Pilot" TV Movie of "Charlie's Angels"--which was filmed and aired in 1976. So any model beyond that year would obviously not have been available yet. It was from that TV Movie that they decided to go ahead with the regular series. I'm not sure about the Lincoln, but the white mansion with the pillars was Aaron Spelling's house at the time! They decided to use an outside shot of it for the Townsend Agency office. Interiors were sets at 20th Century Fox. Later for the series, a two-story red brick office building in down town Beverly Hills was used for the outside shots of the Angel's office. Again, the interiors were sets constructed at 20th Century Fox. I wonder if the Lincoln Continental was also Spelling's? -- Last edit: 2009-10-30 06:43:35 |

The car in the thumbnails is not the same car as the one in the main picture. The one in the thumbnails is a 78-79 per backlights + grille. |

Mostly likely a '78 for the thumbnails...as they're from the season 3 2-part premiere "Angels In Vegas"--which was aired in the fall of 1978, but most likely was filmed even earlier than that. |

Also, the main pix car sports rear fender skirts dropped for the '78 season. |

Yeah, like I said a few years ago...since the main car pic is from the "Pilot" TV movie that aired in the spring of 1976 (so would have been filmed much earlier than even that) it is most likely a 1975 or 1976 model. |

Wasn't there an alteration in the rear reflector style between the '77 and '78 model years? |

Yes. '75-77 have red tint; '78-79 are silver. Main photo is a '75-76, the thumbnails from Season 3 are of a '78 (longer side molding and silver dash panels). -Kurt -- Last edit: 2013-01-02 03:40:18 |

Yeah...as I stated before, above, the "main" pic is from the "Pilot" TV Movie (Spring of 1976)...so 1977-79 models would not have been available yet. So, it has to be 1976 or older. As for the thumbnail pics from ahight, they are from the 3rd Season premiere "Angels In Vegas"--which was the fall of 1978. So, that Lincoln probably is a 1978 model...as the episode would have been filmed earlier in the spring or summer. Also didn't Lincoln get a new style for 1979--a style that was carried on through the 80's? -- Last edit: 2014-03-12 19:06:38 |
