According to my reference books, it was called a TORINO Elite in 1975..... |

@supcoach: Ford Gran Torino Elite was introduced in 1974 model year, then they changed to Elite in 1975 model year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Elite |

This one does not have the Gran Torino badge, so 1975-1976 Elite is correct. |

@rjluna .. I did not say GRAN Torino...I said TORINO...According to "The Encyclopedia of American Cars" and "Ford Chronicle" both list a TORINO model separate from a GRAN Torino model....Model 21 with a production of 123,372 Ford Torino Elite in 1975, the only year that such a model is listed... |

In 1975, Ford was trying to separate the Elite from the rest of the Torino line, to help give it a separate identity to compete against the Monte Carlo and Grand Prix. You can see they created it's own brochure: 1975 Ford Elite: http://oldcarbrochures.org/NA/Ford/1975_Ford/1975_Ford_Elite_Brochure 1975 Ford Torino brochure (no mention of the Elite): http://oldcarbrochures.org/NA/Ford/1975_Ford/1975-Ford-Torino-Brochure This is why they are listed as they are here. |
