Transcontinental had different fenders. It is French made truck. This squared lamp on doors is some curiosity. Like for now I can't find any pic of Berliet/Saviem with it, but some early (already rebadged in 1980) Renaults TR/R-___ T for sure had it.

Can it be the same Renault what here /vehicle_831147-Renault-R-310-T-1980.html ?

A RVI truck in any case, with that logo (in the lower right part of the picture):

(1978+ RVI logo)
____

Edit: 1980+ R-Series cab indeed. So if not the same, it could certainly be moved in the comments of the other page to avoid "repetition" of background vehicles. By the way, what are the clues to tell a R-310 from a R-360, for the other truck? Don't they share the same cab?

Same cab, but not the same trucking company.

Actually, even the script on the silver strip is blurry, it's too large to be "R 3xx". More like two letters + 3 numerals. Also, the two-tone cab is more typical of the Berliet GR/TR trucks, which inaugurated this type of cab.

I do believe this is a 1979 Berliet TR, like these : http://www.lesrenaultdepapier.fr/gamme_r.htm

Just the badges. And by the way, there is no hyphen between R and the number on those trucks. It's visible on the brochures and on the door badges, and I don't know why they've been written with hyphens here.

It is to see also at the linked site, and I can confrim this also by date on brochure I own, that at the very beginning of year 1980, the trucks were already badged Renault, but model names were still in Berliet format - TR/GR. Then with introduction of the 310/360, "T" had to went on the back of model name and tractors were named "R-3x0 T". But of course if RVI door badge was already to meet on last Berliets (and this way Saviems PX perhaps too), I agree, it should be listed as Berliet.

But it isn't really wrong and on list view it visually fits better to those listed as "R-Series".

On a brochure, maybe, but not on the trucks themselves. The badges read "R 310 Turbo".

If it fits better, why aren't the Scanias also written like that ? All of them are labeled "R 142", "T 143", and so on, which is correct. Doing the same with the Renault would be logical.

I'm too "young" in the IMCDb to know who, when and why started this unwritten rule, but pragmatically, searching the R- only gives only R-xxx and R-Series models, while the same search about a single R (i.e. at the beginning of the model name, and of course not including chassis) gives a lot more (unwanted) results. But the white space, if used, would maybe be seen the same way the hyphen is?

The Reanult "R " with space would group these RVI trucks with BMW bikes, Scanias and maybe something else - and maybe it is good reason to differ them a bit.

Or add hyphen also to Scanias. ;) Like I said, I find this hyphen more a way to organize them visually, but it is just a detail to me. Really important is to have all vehicles of the same range listed in the same way. So if all Renaults R trucks are already listed with hyphen (and they are) and all Scanias are without it (yes I know, with excpetion of "Series"), it's ok with me and can stay like that.

True - as often manufacturers don't want to make different badge for every version, but this "T" after number, as indicates tractor, is important part of its model name.
