Looks to me like a 1950 Ford (US). |

It's a 1950 Mercury. Since this is in Japan it could be a Canadian made car. Canada had their own Monarch brand but it surely looks like the 1950 Mercury hood badge. I think the Mercury was also made in Canada for export but I'm not sure. |

No idea if in practice J got its US stuff from US or CDN. CDN may be more likely if cars for J were RHD, but J preferred LHD despite driving on left. CDN is most likely source for UK Commonwealth teritories (Aus, NZ, ZA, HK etc) due to tariff/import duty advantages, but these agreements did not apply for J. |
