When the "Montana" trim level was introduced it was marketed as being Rugged and having plenty of open-space (like the state of Montana is portrayed on TV) the commercials even had Cowboys and Fighter-jet pilots driving Trans Sport Montanas |

Just as Crossroads said, It’s just a name. But it’s name was inspired by the State of Montana. Early advertising commercials for the vehicle were quoted in saying "Life is different in Montana". Also the "Montana" name on the vehicle has the insignia of Mountains behind it(Pertaining to the Mountains of Montana) |

We did opposite, we got a 2004 Chevrolet Venture (Montana rebadge) because it had optional eight passenger seating, and the Dodge Caravans (we had been getting Caravan SE's since the mid 1990s) did not. Big mistake. All GM had done was stick in a seat where the Caravan's empty area between the seats and the door had been. It has been horrorable in reliability (door problems after 1 month). And they are the second least safe vans around. I do however like their appearance, but thats about it. Not one of my eight family members like it, and all regret not getting a Caravan. We get rid of it in June 2007, to be replaced by a Caravan. It is not bigger aside from 1 extra seat stuffed in. Personally I liked our pos Aerostar more. GM also agrees with us that they suck at minivans, this is why they (along with Ford) are dropping out of the minivan market. The Chevrolet Uplander and its rebadges are gone by 2007, and won't be replaced by a minivan (but replaced by crossovers, the Lambdas). Same with Ford's Freestar. |
