From "Hypnosis". Louis' transport during the episode (probably a rental car). |

Why is it named after a state? |
◊ 2007-02-01 01:08 |
Just a name, no reason. |

When the "Montana" trim level was introduced it was marketed as being Rugged and having plenty of open-space (like the state of Montana is portrayed on TV) the commercials even had Cowboys and Fighter-jet pilots driving Trans Sport Montanas |

Just as Crossroads said, It’s just a name. But it’s name was inspired by the State of Montana. Early advertising commercials for the vehicle were quoted in saying "Life is different in Montana". Also the "Montana" name on the vehicle has the insignia of Mountains behind it(Pertaining to the Mountains of Montana) |

idk. Odd name for a minivan anyhow. I think Bronco or offroad SUV or truck when I think of Montana. |

What about the Renault 21 Nevada then? (well, in this case it was a symbol of "lots of space") |

Not even a lot of space (therefore a pathetic attempt to make it look better), the Grand Caravan, Oasis (Odyssey), Freestar and Aerostar all felt bigger inside and out. Crappy vans all the way around.. -- Last edit: 2007-02-01 18:20:18 |

I love my montana I traded my Town and Country in on it because it is bigger |

We did opposite, we got a 2004 Chevrolet Venture (Montana rebadge) because it had optional eight passenger seating, and the Dodge Caravans (we had been getting Caravan SE's since the mid 1990s) did not. Big mistake. All GM had done was stick in a seat where the Caravan's empty area between the seats and the door had been. It has been horrorable in reliability (door problems after 1 month). And they are the second least safe vans around. I do however like their appearance, but thats about it. Not one of my eight family members like it, and all regret not getting a Caravan. We get rid of it in June 2007, to be replaced by a Caravan. It is not bigger aside from 1 extra seat stuffed in. Personally I liked our pos Aerostar more. GM also agrees with us that they suck at minivans, this is why they (along with Ford) are dropping out of the minivan market. The Chevrolet Uplander and its rebadges are gone by 2007, and won't be replaced by a minivan (but replaced by crossovers, the Lambdas). Same with Ford's Freestar. |

Yes, I've heard that. Though your little brother was OK when he crashed it. |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-01 18:49 |
Sadly so. However, 10-15MPH is not a serious wreck. Check this 1997 Pontiac Trans Sport IIHS crash test at 40MPH: http://youtube.com/watch?v=PbflUdu4cQY |

When you told us about it on the forum, it sounded a bit more dramatic, I think you said it went airbourne and smashed sideways into a tree. |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-02 21:56 |
$9,000+ was dramatic. And it was a bad wreck, but it wasn't like a 50MPH crash. |

4J suffix, so 99 or 00. As it's after this one: /vehicle.php?id=143810 I would guess 00? But I don't know if CA plates are numbered out of order. 99 for now. |

This isn't a Trans Sport due to the lack of "TRANS SPORT" on the driver door. This is just a Montana. 1999+ |
