This one has had a fascinating story that you can read about here: http://www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/60pfjacq.htm For more information, history, photos of many of the other Cadillac prototypes and show cars shown in this movie, check out the "Dream Cars" section of my "Cadillac Database": http://www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/Drm_ndex.htm |

Interesting car, with a side line given to the Peugeot 404 Coupé and Cabriolet a couple of months later, and a front end given to the Peugeot 204 in 1965... Excellent designer, Pininfarina is also excellent at recycling its ideas... |

Interestingly, the car did not become an "automobile" until 1996, when it was put on the chassis of a pre-owned 1960 Cadillac Eldorado with a regular Cadillac motor from 1959. Until that time it is believed to have been just a "pushmobile" (a body shell on wheels, with no engine, drive train, instruments, fuel tank, transmission tunnel, etc.) Nevertheless, Pininfarina asserted and continues to assert that it was mounted, first, on a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham chassis. This is baloney; by the time "Jacqueline" was shown first at the Paris Salon, then at the Turin venue, every 1959 Eldorado Brougham had been sold and accounted for. The car was owned briefly, from 1996 to 2001, by Alain-Dominique Perrin, former CEO of Cartier (France). Currently it is again for sale by the 3rd owner (Herve Willems), in Hollywood, CA, for ...$400,000 !!! |
