Vauxhall Model HIY Ten Four or HIX Twelve Four. Most likely 1946 rather than pre war, as spare wheel on boot lid only on 1940 cars onwards. |

Chose 12/4 [HIX] so that we have one for reference and if you can afford an ABC 1 format plate, you wouldn't be slumming around in a poverty 10/4. |

I don't think you could buy plates in the way that we do now, you needed pull in the right places, or to make a private deal. Anyhow, assuming I had had the money or the pull, I wouldn't be driving any sort of Vauxhall at all. An Alvis or an Armstrong Siddeley at least, and FYI my Bentley has an ABC 121 format, even from its first registration by Mr Holman Leigh. |
