The L didn't replace the B, the long hood version was (and still is) sold as a complementary model: see pages 12 & 13 of the 2009 brochure (pdf - 2.5 MB) proposed in Kenworth corporate site. The same pages show also a W-900 B with exposed air cleaner hoses. → Set as W-900 B as default identification. |

The B model is still available as you suggested, but the difference in headlight position separate the 1982-1989 W900s from the 1990+ models. |
