2 clues to differentiate a 1940-47 K-Series from a 1947-49 KB-series:
• As already noted by lightninboy, a KB-series has a chromed grille with "wings";
• The IH logo is displayed on top of the hood on a K-Series, in the hood bezel on a KB-Series.
