Wasn't the Futura only a coupe? |

Yes, it was only a coupe. This is just a basic Fairmont sedan. |

Originally it was only a coupe, but in later years the Futura name was applied to sedans as well. |

Yeah, I just looked on Wikipedia. It doesn't say what year that started to happen, though. Futura sedans must not of been very popular though, because the only Futuras I've seen have been those coupes that look like shrunken Thunderbirds. Anyways...so how does a Futura sedan differ from a regular Fairmont sedan? -- Last edit: 2009-08-26 20:22:17 |

Ford Fairmont Futura has different rear roof quarter design. So, this is just Ford Fairmont. |

OK. Ford introduced the Fairmont for the 1978 model year. There was a regular 2-door coupe and a special-designed, fancier model called the "Futura", featuring much wider "B" panels. In 1980, the "Futura" name was also used on the fancier-trimmed 4-door models. With the nicer chrome trim on the pictured car, this could well be a 4-door Futura. The Futura grille was different from the standard Fairmont. A front shot would resolve the issue. -- Last edit: 2009-08-27 15:53:15 |
