This throws me for a major loop. VIN decoding says this was assembled in Mexico even though the WMI indicates America. @night cub any help here? I cannot locate the workshop manual to confirm the plant code ![]() https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/Decoder 1FA - US Ford Passenger L - Restraint - Driver and Passenger (First Generation) Airbags and Active Belts P13 - Ford Escort, Sedan ('91-'02) P - 2.0L Zetec X - check digit V - 1997 MY M - plant 243672 - serial number Maybe wikipedia is wrong? Link to "www.fleet.ford.com" - this official ford chart does says M = mexico for the plant. -- Last edit: 2022-04-07 05:45:41 |

Thanks. I assume Jetta is copying and pasting the VINs, this is what I do to minimize mistyping, but maybe he is typing them out ![]() |
