740 indeed, and MY 1990 because of the rear lights. Does it have Turbo wheels, is it a GLT, or just a GL with added extras? |

What rules out 1991 and 1992? What is US-spec? The badge look long enough to read 740 GLE, wouldn't GLT and Turbo have a black panel between the tail lights? |

@atom: I'm sorry for forgetting an additional + behind the 1990 MY. If GLE it should have had chrome (aluminium) around the rear and side windows and possibly also chrome on the side strip http://zombdrive.com/images/1990-volvo-740-1.jpg . If you're sure about the black panel behind the number plate on the GLT and Turbo versions, I believe this is a GL. |

I'm not sure. Googling around shows GLT and Turbos in pictures both with and without the black panel. |
