Small Ford, but which model? From the grille it looks like an E494A Anglia but that model did not appear until 1949. It has a curved front bumper which the British Y used and also the German Ford Eifel. The British cars all had straight bumpers as far as I can see. -- Last edit: 2016-01-09 19:22:25 |

It's a 7W Ten, I think. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C395223 Picture featuring dropped front bumper on British model for NZCarnerd. Also fitted to Y, C and CX, and 7Y. -- Last edit: 2016-01-09 19:47:03 |

7W Ten introduced 22 March 1937, discontinued 29 Sept 1938 in favour of E93A Prefect. Recognition points, bulbous headlamp glasses, dropped centre of front bumper, grille with three vertical louvres. As far as I can find the cars were only manufactured by Dagenham, although ckd kits were sent out for assembly. The subject car is in use as a taxi, the 7W and later Prefect mainly had four doors, although some 2 doors were built, and were longer in wheelbase than the 7Y/Anglia/Popular models and therefore more likely used in the taxi business. There were no four door Anglias in Europe, although four doors may have appeared in postwar Australian assembled cars. The drop centre front bumper was not used after the 7Y and 7W models ended, all pre 100E Anglias and Prefects should have left the factory with straight front bumpers. The aspect ratio of this picture makes the car look even taller and narrower than it already was. -- Last edit: 2016-01-10 11:30:27 |
