Early one - no tints or headrests |

Early one, so, as you can read 2000 Tii Touring. The name switched from 1600/1800/2000/2000Tii Touring March 1971-August 1972) to 1602/1802/2002/2002 Tii Touring (August 1972 on). I would just like to point out that in this site The switch from Ford Consul Cortina to Cortina (happened in October 1964) is accepted but not the change from Taunus 12M and Taunus 15M to Just Ford 12M and 15M happened (this time without a facelifting) in September 1967. I just corrected the word here. If you agree I hope you will forgive me, but please give me an explanation. -- Last edit: 2016-01-16 14:48:28 |

Did we have A Big Decision somewhere to keep all of these as 2002 Touring?? If not there's a lot of renaming to do (and argue about??), including non-Tii batch .... As for the Fords ^ (Consul) Cortina - and (Consul) Corsair can usually be separated fairly easily, so we're solid with those. The Taunus names are much more difficult without visible change - it relies on secondary evidence (plate dates if available, maybe film dates if useful). I don't know how we answer it - the problem is definite, the solution very difficult to find. |

In the Taunus for '68 (and for '69) the script changed: In the front the script Taunus was deleted and Ford appeared instead and for the '69 "Ford" was smaller and on the left side instead than in the centre. I understand that you can tell if you have a front big picture. |

Anyway I switch to 2002 because I don't want to create any problem. There is another topic about the Opel Olympia Rekord that annoyes me... |

2000 for 1971 and 1972. 2002 for 1973+. |

That's why I think someone must have made A Big Decision - maybe a long time ago?? |

well there are only two other ones, so not a so big decision ![]() A while ago, Ralph suggested to keep the more logical 2002 name: /vehicle_122984-BMW-2002-Touring-tii-1971.html#Comment296165 but it can be changed if sticking to the other name is better (despite being illogical and short-lived, it was its actual name then) -- Last edit: 2016-01-16 17:37:57 |

Does Ralph's comment mean that from MY 1973 (third year for this model), only the name was changed? Or were there visible changes in the car? Of those three early Touring tii, the one (actually, two) registred [6662CB92] has a plate delivered very early in 1972. If we know these were named "2000 Touring tii"—and since people still remember them as such—why wouldn't we give them back their name? |

Also the non-tii batch to juggle, and 1600 Touring and maybe some 1802 Touring to ponder - not sure what exact names applied and when. |

I accept the policy generally used here but I do not agree that we have to translate for instance "station wagon" in Norwegian (sorry for the example but I saw many examples and I like Norway) for instance instead of using the original name, and than not to accept switch of name scheduled by the car maker. I hope not to create a controversy. This is just my opinion and I don't mean that I am right or wrong and the same for anyone else. -- Last edit: 2016-01-16 18:19:55 |
