Looks like genuine M535i (Jan 85 - Nov 87 in UK).

Rear badge is xx5i, and other features still look good for M535i. WDT 663 now on a Citroen C4 Picasso.

M535i only had a M badge:

Further digging .... agree rear badge is wrong for M535i. Also it should have tints, different wheels and possibly different front spoiler - Link to "cdn.bmwblog.com" . But if it's something boy-racered with bodykit, it started off as a posh version (sunroof, fogs, rear headrests) so 525i SE or 535i (as rear badge) and has Sept 83+ side indicators, plus the modifications look well done, not home-made. Seems pointless to upgrade 535i instead of just buying M535i; 525i SE was very short-lived in UK - Jan-Dec 87 only, but is perhaps more plausible. However it still doesn't have tints ... so the only solid conclusion is Sept 83+ plain 525i which someone spent a fair bit of money to upgrade with decent selection of factory options and then aftermarket modifications.
