Sorry but as the movie is made in Argentina, I think that it is just a Ford Sierra, not a Merkur e.g. /vehicle_79344-Ford-Sierra-1988.html |

Ah ok, i didnt know the argentinian Scorpio was like the Merkur |
◊ 2007-02-19 17:51 |
What? It is a Sierra, not a Scorpio |
◊ 2007-02-19 17:52 |
Yes Sierra, sorry, i didnt know the argentinian Sierra was like the american Merkur |
◊ 2007-02-19 17:54 |
The Merkur brand was used to sell European Ford Sierra & Scorpio in USA, with a name that sounded German (though that the car was actually built in Belgium ) |
◊ 2007-02-19 17:55 |
Yes but what i mean is that i didnt know that the Sierra in Argentina was like the XR4Ti in north America, they have the same rear window, are we sure about this? |
◊ 2007-02-19 17:57 |
That's just a Sierra, you never saw these in Spain? (and XR4i was also just that, with another name) And it is similar to the one that I posted in the link above. |

Antoine you are just not understanding me |
◊ 2007-02-19 17:59 |
dont you see that the C pillar window of the Argentinian Sierra is like the C pillar window of the Merkur XR4Ti?? so my question is, are we sure that one isnt a Merkur but a Sierra? |
◊ 2007-02-19 18:03 |
The Merkur XR4Ti is just a US-specs Ford Sierra XR4i! http://www.brugt-biler.dk/Ford%20Sierra.htm So if it is not in USA, it is just a Ford Sierra -- Last edit: 2007-02-19 18:05:34 |

But dont you see that these one ive added and the other one of the other movie listed as a Sierra has the same C pillar window of a Merkur? |

Respect European version,Argentinian-made Sierras include only some models, otherwise the German and UK-made ones;in fact in Argentina don't exist the smaller 1.3 lt.;RA-made Sierras starts since 1986 with 1.6 lt.and Diesel no availables;the wagons were renamed Sierra Rural;the XR4i was practically patterned on European version(existing since 1983),but body trim and bumpers differs slightly in Argentinian market version |

If I understand antp correctly he is saying: If it IS in the USA its a Merkur. If its NOT in the USA it is a Sierra. They are basically the same cars but named differently in different markets. This film was made in Aregntina so it a Sierra. |
◊ 2007-02-19 18:48 |
Yes they have, as they are the same car. Just called differently. In the US Merkur Sierra XR4i, every where else Ford Sierra XR4i.... |
◊ 2007-02-19 18:49 |
i have understood that wrenchhead, but i eman about the windows, anyway i got to go now so ill ask later again |
◊ 2007-02-19 18:54 |
Carchasefanatic, sorry, I was not trying to be pedantic or instructing you. Perhaps I should have phrased my comment differently. I just wanted to make sure that I understood antp correctly -- Last edit: 2007-02-19 19:34:13 |

Sierra XR4i has the same windows as the Merkur, as the Merkur IS a Sierra XR4i. But of course not all Sierra have windows like that. |
◊ 2007-02-19 22:11 |
Just to make things more confusing... The Merkur was sold with the US 2.3 4 cylinder turbo engine. Not a brilliant engineering feat. This engine has serious turbo lag and sounded very unrefined (it was basically an old Pinto "Lima" 2.3 four with a turbo -- and eventually an intercooler). At any rate, they marketed the Merkur as a direct competitor to the contemporary BMW 3-series and failed. The Euro-version Sierra had some interesting models of it's own (the Cosworth comes to mind) but Ford decided it couldn't import those for various reasons. Too bad |

That is what i just wanted to hear from you Antoine thanks, at last, and dont wory wrenchhead, i didnt mean it you was pedantic |

I thought that the link that I posted above explained it, showing a Sierra like that... http://www.brugt-biler.dk/Ford%20Sierra.htm -- Last edit: 2007-02-19 23:52:53 |

But only Sierras in Argentina have the C pillar windows like the Merkur, right? or is it in all South America? |
◊ 2007-02-20 00:06 |
Everywhere. We had these in Europe. But not all Sierra, only some of the coupé Sierra, mostly the XR4i I guess -- Last edit: 2007-02-20 00:08:00 |
◊ 2007-02-20 00:15 |
ah ok, so the Merkur didnt have a special desing, i thought so, ok, now i understand everything. |
◊ 2007-02-20 00:48 |

I also liked that Sierra when I was child, mostly because of that Solido model that I liked: http://antp.be/pic/miniatures/00000112.jpg |
