1949 Buick 2 door sedanet.

First I considered it as a Hudson "Step-down", but the shape of the front fender reminds of French Ford Vedette: so it has to be a 1949 Mercury V8 coupe. (The comparable Lincoln had thicker chrome trims)

I really don't this is a Buick. Hudson or Mercury or even a "small" Lincoln seems more of an accurate pick.

I agree with car nerd the general shape is not buick of this era.

Look at the back of the back side window that slanting profile only matches the 49 Buick sedanet. The Mercury window is round at the back.

I wish we had another pic to compare it with.

This car does not have the rear fender lines nor the overall shape of a 1949 buick. See: http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/Buick/1949_Buick_Roadmaster_sedanet_3.jpg

I really see a lot more Mecury/"small" Lincoln here. Especially with that extended feature line from the front fender into the door.

What do you think?

I just don't see the rear fender of a 49 Buick We will probably find that its a Kaiser or something

The softness of the picture and the blurring caused by the car moving makes it tough. The one well defined line is at the back of the side window. The roof line is not well defined at the back due to blurring of motion.

I don't believe that motion blurring would erase the entire leading edge of the rear fender and leave the window sharp. This car has relatively smooth sides and the 49 buick did not. I agree with car nerd, it looks to me more like a Mercury than anything else we are considering.

Actually I think the blurring occurs more at the fenders than at the window line. The window line of the front door is also closer to the 49 Buick than the Mercury. The Mercury is rounder at the front windshield pillar.

I'm sorry Richard of C, I just don't see the rear fender contour of a 49 Buick.

Of course its all a blurr and its in the pixals. If somebody has the movie on DVD freeze it on the TV and look at it.

I would assume that is the way sixcyl got the pic. Pausing or freezing the display will not get rid of all motion blur; particularly, in old movies. They drive me crazy trying to get a clear pic. [Image: crazy.gif]

For me at first sight a 1949 Mercury or baby Lincoln coupe , certainly not a Buick

'49 or '50 Mercury for me.
(Rear bumper end of baby Lincoln is more extended toward the rear wheel cover)
