It is certainly an early one from the small hatches and gun mantlet, and especially early as it has the direct vision blocks for the driver and assistant driver. The T 146309 number on the side tells you it was a Canadian M4A4 built by Chrysler. http://www.preservedtanks.com/Profile.aspx?UniqueId=1793 /vehicles_make-Chrysler_model-M4+A4+%27Sherman+V%27.html |

M4A4 serial number 5271, was built in September 1942 by Chrysler at the Detroit Tank Arsenal. It was the 467th built out of a total production run of 7499 M4A4s. Issued to the US Army with Reg. No. USA W-3057081, it was transfered to the British Army and given a census number of T-146309. https://m.warhistoryonline.com/articles/shermn-m4a4-restoration.html so a very early A4 which had the design trademarks of the early normal Shermans.. -- Last edit: 2016-03-15 16:15:43 |
