Plymouth Road Runner or something? |

PM Entertainment's first car chase ever. And it's horrible. -- Last edit: 2020-09-22 23:35:41 |

Looks more like an AMC or an Opel to me. |

I hope we'll manage to find what this car is: I've been killing myself trying to know it! "Looks like a Charger... uh-- no. A Chevelle? Not that either... maybe a Road Runner?" Sorry for the not-so-perfect captures, but the car always goes by really fast, and is almost always blurry. Those were actually the BEST captures I could take. |

Could be a Dodge Coronet with that trim between the wheel arches. |
◊ 2016-03-24 23:30 |
I did see some Charger in this car (as we know, the Charger was based off the Coronet), so there's chances of this being a Coronet. |

1968 Plymouth Satellite?? |
◊ 2016-03-25 00:53 |
I am thinking 1968 or 1969 Plymouth Satellite... |
◊ 2016-03-25 01:16 |
I think we got it: '68 Satellite! No wonder it resembled a Road Runner... -- Last edit: 2016-03-25 01:31:06 |

Only the first gen Charger was that, and this looks nothing like a Charger. |
◊ 2016-03-25 13:48 |
My bet is still AMC or something like that. |
◊ 2016-03-25 14:55 |
I know. I didn't say it completely resembled one; I said there were things about the car that made it feel like one, and since it's probably a car from the '60s we're looking at, I thought it looked like a Coronet (it not being a hatchback). Though, Satellite seems more likely. -- Last edit: 2016-03-26 20:56:29 |

'68 Satellite matches both the trim between the wheel arches and the crease toward the top of the rear fender. Dark area in the middle of the hubcap also corresponds to '68 Satellite. -- Last edit: 2016-03-25 16:12:01 |

The key is the taillamps. If someone can lighten (clear up the blurriness)... |
◊ 2016-03-25 16:15 |
It's really the best I could capture. I've uploaded the chase here, and it shows that it's very hard to get a decent capture of the Satellite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rp3eM4W7RU So, I can't really get a clear view of the taillights. Sorry. -- Last edit: 2016-03-26 05:55:31 |

I'm sure it's a 1968-1970 Satellite/Coronet. It is odd that there are no side marker lights really visible, but maybe that's the film quality. The Coronet and 1970 Satellite had coves stamped into the rear fenders, and I see no sign of those here, leaving the 1968-1969 Plymouths. This car has two very distinct features, the thick rocker trim and the stripe along the beltline. we can rule out base Belvedere immediately because this car is a pillarless hardtop; I'll go through the remaining options model-by-model. 1968 Satellite: Beltline trim, yes (chrome strip); rocker trim, optional 1968 Sport Satellite: Rocker trim, yes; beltline trim, no 1968 Road Runner: Beltline trim, yes (painted); rocker trim, maybe? (the brochure doesn't show it, but examples can be found online) 1968 GTX: Rocker trim, yes; beltline trim, no - and I hope they would not use a GTX for this 1969 Satellite: Beltline trim, no; rocker trim, no 1969 Sport Satellite: Rocker trim, yes; beltline trim, optional (painted) 1969 Road Runner: Rocker trim, optional; beltline trim, maybe? 1969 GTX: Rocker trim, no; beltline trim, no Altogether, I'm saying 1968 Satellite, 1969 Sport Satellite, or 1968-1969 Road Runner. Here's a 1969 Road Runner that has the rocker trim and the painted beltline trim exactly like the movie car: And a 1968 Road Runner similarly equipped: 1968 Satellite with rocker trim: 1969 Sport Satellite: -- Last edit: 2016-03-26 20:48:41 |

It can`t be one of these ? https://flic.kr/p/AtyYJ6 |
◊ 2016-03-27 15:05 |
Doesn't look like it. It's not an AMC, believe me. -- Last edit: 2016-03-27 15:17:48 |

No, the AMC's proportions are different and this car doesn't have that bulge in the fender by the bumper. |
◊ 2016-03-28 13:01 |
I don`t think it`s a Mopar either so, but it`s very hard to see on this blurry pic. |
◊ 2016-03-28 17:33 |
I don't think so. Which narrows it down to either '68 Satellite or '68/'69 Road Runner. -- Last edit: 2016-03-28 17:43:14 |

I was able to clarify the image a tiny bit. The vehicle in question definitely has a notch between the top of the bumper and the fender, those Plymouths have such a notch. Given that the notch isn't as prominent on Road Runners as on Satellites, and even less prominent on that AMC, I'm still leaning toward '68 Satellite. -- Last edit: 2016-03-28 17:50:31 |

In that case, I guess that the car's most likely a 1968 Plymouth Satellite indeed. -- Last edit: 2016-03-28 17:54:28 |

This is it. With my best effort, this is THE best view of the taillights. -- Last edit: 2016-03-28 21:14:35 |

Certainly some sort of Plymouth. That second thumb clearly shows one crease near the top of the fender and another crease toward the bottom, presumably aligned with a crease in the bumper. -- Last edit: 2016-03-29 03:02:23 |

I think I got it. Take a look at this shiny stuff. Compare that door panel with a '68 Satellite, a '68 Road Runner, and a '69 Road Runner. Seems to me that a '68 Road Runner is the best match. -- Last edit: 2016-03-30 16:46:55 |

I see... well, it's confirmed, then: it's a 1968 Plymouth Road Runner. Does this mean I was right from the start? How peculiar... I mean, that usually doesn't happen very much. ETA 2023: If you're reading my comments, don't worry... I also wish I would've shut my trap after a while. -- Last edit: 2023-12-09 04:01:56 |

I don't see anything visible on the door panel that's not also visible on a Satellite. Furthermore, the car lacks the Road Runner's distinctive hood bulges. |
