Princess 4-Litre Hearse, 1957-1960? |

Has a - possibly dubious - 1965 C plate. However tail-lights look early 60s BMC (A40 Farina/MGB/ADO16 or perhaps Elf/Hornet as best match), so VdP seems likely and the 65 plate may even be correct. |

Are there any other means of differentiating between a Vanden Plas and an earlier model? -- Last edit: 2016-04-15 02:32:15 |

Hearses are more difficult than the limos because of coachbuilt bodies. In this case the tail-light date is strong clue, plus the chrome P on boot which was not used on 1957-1960 Princess 4-Litre limos or consequently those hearses. Otherwise Princess and VdP Princess are very difficult to split without plate or film dates. 1st version Austin Princess has painted grille surround instead of chromed and flying A grille cap, and on limos has body colour pillar behind rear door instead of chromed on both later versions. Anything else is fingers crossed ... |
