I should find how to recognize the difference between a Cherokee and a Wagoneer |

There is also a Jeep Comanche that goes with this, heres another pic: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/GrandTrunkFan/sahara_jeeps.jpg |

It was not very visible in the movie, and only followed the Wagoneer, that's why I did not add it at first. Thanks for the picture, I'll make a page for it |

I thought it was funy in the movie how the Comanche was hood-less. |

Wrong. It is a 1974 Jeep Cherokee. -- Last edit: 2006-03-05 02:21:16 |

How to tell apart a Cherokee and a Wagoneer: At least in later years, the Cherokee was 2-door, the Wagoneer 4-door. There was also a pick-up version called 'Honcho'. The Cherokee as pitured here is most likely a Cherokee Chief, since the 'regular' Cherokee didn't have the fender flares. Wagoneers were not availble with flared fenders, the rear door cut out would not have allowed to mount them. Cherokee Chiefs came with beautyful interiors in a native American 'Wigwam' scheme. |

Actually some comments are missed, but it is useful to repost them only if no answer for more than 24h, not for more than 2h |

I am just wondering - why it is AMC Jeep Cherokee and not only Jeep Cherokee? |
Rocker B. J. ◊ 2006-03-02 08:25 |
Please change it to 1974 Jeep Cherokee. |

The wide track Cherokee Chief (as noted by the flaired rear fenders) was NOT available is 1974. It started in '75. -- Last edit: 2006-11-01 06:00:53 |

FWIW, if you look closely, the burning SJ Cherokee is a different one than the driving SJ Cherokee. |

ACTUALLY its a 1978 Cherokee Chief, and I should know, its mine, my husband bought this for me in 1997 it was a horrible hunting orange, he painted it a lovely blue and silver with multi flake and I still have her, she is parked in my front garden waiting renovation (again) after the film my husband and his mate flew down to the south of Spain, where she had been stored after filming in Morocco and drove (nursed) it back to me, it was one of those classic moments, he came in the door at 10.30pm closed and bared the door then spoke the immortal words, "Don't Go Out Side" the worst thing he could of said, I was out that door like a rat up a drain pipe, my lovely immaculate Chief was gone and in its stead was a bashed and abused lump. I cried for a week, my husband and kids wanted to keep it as it was in the film because they thought it was cool, as my daughter has stated on here NO JOKE but all 4 girls are starting to come around to my way of thinking at last, so when he gets around to doing it, if I'm not too old to drive it, I will post photo's. |
