Why is this called AF and not A? The AF was a special model for UK with a smaller cylinder bore less powerful engine to defeat the horsepower tax. |

Owner claims that it is German assembled AF. However, indeed it might be worth to check this and here is what I was able to find - not about this particular car, but about Fords named AF in general: 1) Description of some 1930 AF from Germany -> Link to "ccaoe.com" 2) IMCDb - car from France -> /vehicle_342388-Ford-Model-AF-1928.html With interesting comment of DynaMike about French assembly of AF model. 3) Also interesting site about model A engines and their numbers - http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/ABenginenumbers.htm If I understand it well, it recognizes two AF Fords, where one "AF" indicated engine and was also a model name (indeed, descirbed as British version) and second "AF" was a prefix of internal number for all RHD cars(?). However this site doesn't mention German and French assembly or I missed something. -- Last edit: 2016-05-12 18:04:16 |

Thanks, seems reasonable to accept that this is correct as an AF. I had no knowledge of German build, maybe there was a similar horsepower tax there at the time. |
