April 1951-Oktober 1952 or 1951-52 for short (It's a 'Brezelkäfer', or 'Pretzel Beetle', with the telltale 'Rheumaklappen' January 1951, windscreen surrounding April 1951, doesn't have the new items of the 'Zwitter' like bumpers, horn grilles, vent windows) |

sometimes customers removed rear window support making an Ovali out of the Brezelkäfer just like owners of Golf 3 wish to upgrade to Golf 4 the face of it. |

Yes, I remember seeing the ads for kits making Splitties look like Ovalies, and also for the later 1958+ rear windows. If only I had known then what I would be wasting my time doing many years later.... This one still has the centerpiece, please take a good look at the main picture, you can just see the lower part. -- Last edit: 2016-05-09 23:34:47 |

To the Admin who gave the car the name 'Brezelkäfer', it was just a nickname, by the look of the rear window, which I used to date the car. It could rather be replaced by 'Export' - VW Limousine Export. |
