No other views (so we can't tell if it's a sedan or wagon). |

I assume that this page is for the crashed Volvo in the foreground. It could be mentioned that the headlights shows that it is made for the US market. Back in the 1980's adding those headlights was a popular modification here in Norway. |

I know that this ha the American styled front end, and i meant that the Volvo in the foreground was either a 244/ 245 or it`s 6 cylinder sibling, the 264. |

Has the long bumpers of 1983+, after the 6-cylinders were pulled from the US market, during the DL/GL/GTL/Turbo/Diesel phase. -- Last edit: 2016-06-05 10:34:23 |

@fontheking5 and others: I agree that it's based on a 240/260 design, but at least on the U.S. market they decided to drop the digits (that is 240) for a few years beginning in 1980 Link to "www.volvotips.com" and continuing towards the mid 80's. The entry model was called DL (roughly equipped like the GL in Europe, but from 1981 Link to "www.volvotips.com" with the 260-series hood/bonnet) and the more luxurious model was called GL (roughly equipped like the GLE in Europe) while the V6 version was called GLE (264 GLE/265 GLE/ 240 GLE/ in Europe). The DL had a black grille with chrome surroundings, while the GL (from 1981) had a chromed grille with chrome surroundings. That is like the GLE, apart from that the GLE also had chromed wheel arches. Hence this is a 1983+ Volvo GL. For reference: MY 1980 Link to "www.volvotips.com" . MY 1981 Link to "www.volvotips.com" .
