Cooper S did not appear until March 63 (1071cc), then April 64 for 1275cc and the very rare 970cc from June 64. So if this is a 1962 car, it's a replica S. 800 DXR ✓ Taxed Tax due: 01 May 2018 ✓ MOT Expires: 10 May 2018 Vehicle make: AUSTIN Date of first registration: April 1962 Year of manufacture: 1962 Cylinder capacity (cc): 1275 cc Fuel type: PETROL Export marker: No Vehicle status: Tax not due Vehicle colour: RED Livery is vaguely 1964 Monte Carlo winner, actually a Morris 1071cc, 33 EJB. Forum comment (end of page 3) "My guess is it was a 62 reshelled in the '70s, possibly a NOS stock shell. It was a MkII with no Rotodip hole... never seen that before. The Cooper S bits would have been fairly readily available at the time. I spoke to the owner last year and he spoke about the trouble registering it. Think it had been off the road since 1977." |
