It is a 1951 Plymouth Belvedere hardtop coupe of 1951 in the Cranbrook line .It is one of the few 1951 Plymouths that are easily identified from the corresponding 1952 car : in 1952 the two tone paint scheme was modified, the top color dropping from the roof over the rear quarters and deck lid. |

Pilou, there is a problem: the wheel-covers and the front decoration going on the side are not Plymouth, but DeSoto. This looks like a 1951 DeSoto Diplomat-Custom from Canadian or export market |

Yes , I checked and the front chrome strip extending from the grille to the front wheel arches is DeSoto rather than Plymouth and would make it a DeSoto Diplomat Custom hardtop coupe SP-23 of 1951.Being a north american movie scene , the only possibility would indeed be a Canadian car but it would of course be interesting to know where exactly the shot was made.In any case this looks interesting because DeSoto Diplomats are rare and early hardtop versions must be extremely rare.Good spotting. |

Makes it an even more interesting point for Chrysler Motor Co historians , since not Canada , North of US or South America.Did Chrysler distribute its small export models in Hawaii ?.Or was it imported by a private owner from elsewhere ? |

About the name of the model, there were two export models: the Diplomat (cheap edition) and the Diplomat Custom (expensiver one). So this is a Diplomat Custom and not a Diplomat |
