Buick Regal. |

Are you sure Buick is the right make, according to this: Since 1999, a Chinese version of the Buick Century/Regal has been produced and sold in China under Shanghai GM and has proven to be popular among upscale, professional families, establishing Buick as one of the most popular vehicle brands in China. In addition, Buick of China also sells the compact Excelle (based on the Daewoo Lacetti/Nubira), a five-door hatchback version called the HRV, and a modified version of the first generation Pontiac Montana minivan named the GL8. For the 2006 model year, Buick debuted the Chinese version of the LaCrosse sedan. The only differences are exterior design, different engine choices, and a facelifted interior. It is positioned above the Regal but below the Royaum. -- Last edit: 2007-03-10 13:59:06 |

From what I understand, it is Buick: "establishing Buick as one of the most popular vehicle brands in China" |
◊ 2007-03-10 18:41 |
Yes, but is it a Regal/LaCrose/Royaum |
◊ 2007-03-10 22:32 |
It's a Regal. Check http://www.buick.com.cn and you'll see the Royaum and Lacrosse are different cars. -- Last edit: 2007-03-10 22:32:30 |

Il y a pire: Buick’s China Sales Surpass Those In USA! Ironic fact of the day: according to Automotivenews, it is almost certain that Buick will sell more cars at the end of the year in China than in the US! While Buick is getting a beating in its home market from the Asians, selling 206.582 vehicles the first 10 months of 2006 (down 15,4 percent in comparison to the same period in 2005), in China, it managed to sell an impressive 218.603 vehicles, increasing its cut 27.4 percent from 2005! It’s a sick, sad world! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If I remember well, PSA's sales in China were impressive compared to those made in Europe (though they were not -yet- higher). |

Officially this car is known as Shanghai-GM Buick Regal |
◊ 2007-03-13 18:32 |
Shanghai-GM is just the company that makes/sells it, no? |
◊ 2007-03-13 18:56 |
Yes, Shanghai-GM is the company which makes and sells this car. I think it is sold as a Buick so we can keep the name. This model was launched already in 1999 and received a face-lift in 2003. Very popular model in China. Model designation is either SGM 7200/SGM 7251/SGM 7252 or SGM 7302 depending which engine is used. |

It actually looks like the last Century with a different trunk lid to me? |
◊ 2007-11-11 01:02 |
YES!!Chinese name Junwei(君威) |

Looks nothing like a Buick. ![]() |

Are you kidding? This is obviously a rebadged 1997-2005 Century with a slightly different front and rear end treatment. Just look at the doors and the general shape of the car, it's a Century for sure! |
◊ 2008-03-22 00:44 |
It's the back end that makes it seem less like one. |
◊ 2008-04-03 18:03 |
Since Chinese character "别克君威"(the translation of Buick Regal) is the pronounced bieke junwei in China, I think its name should be Shanghai-GM Buick Regal Shanghai-GM Buick Produced 1997-2005 Century from 1999 to 2006 and one of my friends' father drives Shanghai-GM Buick New Century(badged Chinese character新世纪) He used to pick up us from School so I know this is not a Shanghai-GM Buick New Century And definitely not Shanghai-GM Buick LaCrose Because My father drives that -- Last edit: 2008-04-03 23:06:19 |

"Shanghai-GM" is rather the company than part of the make I think. The make is probably just Buick. In the same way, GM often included its name/logo in commercial documents of other makes, like Vauxhall or Opel, even if these never included "GM" in their name. |

Good to have someone from China here, welcome! |
◊ 2008-04-03 23:22 |
Yeah, Shanghai-GM is a company which is also authoritized to use logo chevy and Cadillac besides Buick e.g. Chevrolet Aveo Chevrolet Epica(rebadged Chevy Malibu, at least looks alike outside) and Cadillac CTS Thank U Nice to meet U -- Last edit: 2008-04-04 03:42:06 |
