locally assembled? |

This may be locally assembled, but it is not an Austin Maxi. It is a Morris Nomad, based on the ADO 16 shell, with a hatchback and the Maxi power unit but a four speed transmission. If in doubt, look at the doors. -- Last edit: 2016-06-28 20:29:26 |

Did it ever existed in the UK? If not, origin Down Under then. |

1969-72, designed in UK at Longbridge but only built in Aus - http://ado16.info/morris_1500.shtml , http://www.elevenhundred.com/morris1500/history.php . Nice find, even if an ugly mutant. Maxi was never sold or made in Aus (although it did go to NZ). |

But I doubt if they put salt on the roads in the Outback .... |

The one in the picture definitely has the tinworm though. |

![]() Link to "imcdb.opencommunity.be" On the yard in Belgium the owner had divided the area into squares, which were filled up successively each by each over years. -- Last edit: 2016-06-28 20:51:48 |

You obviously don't go back as far as I do. The thirties Opels imported over here were made of cardboard. -- Last edit: 2016-06-28 21:04:45 |

Err, I suppose, you mix up Opel with DKW? |

No, Kadetts and Olympias and a few 2-litre. |
