why some Corolla are AE92 and some E90 ? |

E90 is the general Corolla code for this generation, AE92 is a more specific code. The confusion comes in on Wiki and the ToyotaReference website, they list only "AE92" and "AE95". A=engine code, which for North America was always the 1.6L 4-cyl; E=Corolla line; 92= trim level DX 2WD. It's not always accurately used. 91= Corolla base 2WD, 93= Corolla LE 2WD, 94= Corolla Deluxe 4WD, 95= Corolla SR-5 Sport Coupe, 96= Corolla SR-5 4WD wagon, 98= Corolla GT-S Sport Coupe. My Kelly Blue Book shows the 1990-92 models shifted the numbers, so 94= DX 2WD and 4WD and 97= LE 2WD. The fifth number, which we do not use, indicated the body style, those also changed in the 1990 model year. -- Last edit: 2016-07-10 19:53:03 |
