An American car that survives a pre-handover Hong Kong film? Thats rare. |

In old days you can see there're some American cars in Hong Kong. It's because Hong Kong people at that time like Americans things. For example, since 1970s a lot of American fast food chains started business in Hong Kong: McDonald's and KFC are two of them. However, since 1990s, most of those chains were withdrawn from Hong Kong: Only McDonald and KFC survive. For vehicle culture, Hong Kong people chose American cars, because they wanted to enjoy the American feeling. Among the American cars in Hong Kong, some were really RHD during production, as I know. And Hong Kong movies at that time like following Hollywood, so Hong Kong people like adding some American cars in Hong Kong movies. These are examples: /vehicle.php?id=882852 /vehicle_690537-Cadillac-Fleetwood-Brougham-1978.html /vehicle.php?id=960479 But later times Hong Kong people found that those American cars were not excellent in quality, comparing with European cars (like Mercedes-Benz, BMW & VW Golf). Also Hong Kong people did not like American things anymore (They changed to like Japan). That's why less and less American cars are sold in Hong Kong market. And, nearly no one preserve the American cars. If concluding which American car was most popular for these decades, I can say: Cadillac is. I cannot sure why: maybe Hong Kong people just like Cadillac. -- Last edit: 2016-10-15 06:22:33 |
