Whats the difference between a 2000 GT and a Sports 800. I have a video game called Sega GT 2002 and the Sports 800 is the worst car in the game. |

The Sports 800 was a small sport car launched in 1965 (before the 2000GT) by Toyota. The engine is a 2 cylindres air cooled of 790 cc, and 49 CV SAE (like the Citroën 2CV). As it was leight (580 kg), well balanced and the handling was good, it went racing in Japanese competition like the 1966 Japan GP where it finished in the 3 first places of its classe. Consuption was so little, it was able to run the Suzuka 500 without filling the tank during the race and finish before much more powerfull cars like the Nissan Skylines and Triumph TR4. So it gained respect in Japaneses gentlemen drivers. It was virtually not exported. From the 3131 built, only a few were sent to Australia. Another particularity of the Sports 800 is the removable top. The aluminium panel is very easy to remove and fit, this car is a targa, well two years before Porsche made it ! |
