Iveco or Magirus Deutz. |

I wouldn't be 100% sure of this being a Magirus, as trucks with the same design - and sometimes different bumpers were also built by Renault and by FIAT. For FIAT see http://www.airportfirefighting.com/details.php?image_id=75 For Iveco: http://www.olafs-fotoseite.de/01110119.html The round lights were more typical for Renault. Magirus Deutz used rectangular lights for most of their products. The trucks left, right and in the background look loke Renault/Saviem. -- Last edit: 2005-07-31 20:20:32 |

Same comments...depending on the year of production, this vehicule was a Magirus-Deutz product, then became IVECO around the 80's |

Since Hotel Rwanda was filmed in South Africa, the right-hand drive versions are probably SAMAG (civilian) or SAMIL (military) trucks made in South Africa under licence from Magirus-Deutz. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAMIL_Trucks |

In the three vehicles listed there there is nothing about the 256m26 ![]() |

After informing myself a bit about them, I think, too that those trucks should be SAMIL/SAMAG 50 or 100 (5 ton - 10 ton). Consider the location of the movie and the year. The Magirus/Iveco types we talk about were not produced any more since the early 80s. The SAMILs were produced until 1998. And the trucks in the movie look a little too crisp and new for 25 year old ones. ![]() |

Quite correct, mm. The one in the foreground looks to be a SAMIL and the other two SAMAGs, looking at the grilles. All of them are "50s" (two-axle) |

The 4x4 trucks shown are all Samil 50's, powered by the Deutz V6 air cooled engine. Some of the grilles fitted are "after-market" replacements so they will differ, and don't determine the truck model. Some of these trucks were supplied by "Black & White Trucks", a local company which specializes in such vehicles. |
