Front of radiator carries double-barrelled name of mid teens French auto manufacturer (e.g. DeDion Bouton, Delaunay-Belleville, Georges Irat, etc.) |

Unic about 1908 Shape of the radiator is Unic, but the double-name on the radiator puzzles me. -- Last edit: 2005-10-02 12:44:47 |

Assuming that DAF555 is right that this is a Unic (I could not tell), then the double name is "Georges Richard". The name "Unic" was only used from 1914 onwards. Before that it was "Société des Anciens Etablissements Georges Richard" from Puteaux, Seine, 1905-1914. Therefore this car should be listed as "Georges Richard". |

Thanks for leading me on the right track here, but that only gave more opprtunities to the double name. The man behind it all is George Richard and there were cars made under this name as well as "George-Richard-Brasier", "Richard-Brasier" and "Brasier". The Brasier name comes from Henri Brasier who was earlier chief engineer at Mors. Unic was made from about 1905-06 when Georges Richard started up the company, still having interests in the Brasier company though. I´ve been looking through some different sources, most of them quite old, they say about the same thing and I found some pics with this radiator on a couple of Unic cars. A search on Google for Unic 1908 shows a few cars with this radiator. These two links feels fairly reliable too: http://www.brighton-early.com/georgesrichard.html http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Unic I still think it´s a Unic somewhere about 1906-10, but it´s always difficult to be absolutely sure about cars from these early years. |

They say it's a DeDion in the movie. "Août 1912. J'étais plutôt bel homme, vous trouvez pas? C'est une DeDion. Avec boîte à prise directe." |
