There were four short Plaxton-bodied Leyland Leopards supplied to British Airways in 1974 (WUL261-4N), and I reckon this is one of them, a Leyland Leopard PSU4B/4R with Plaxton Elite III body |

I think the coachwork is officially known as Plaxton Panorama Elite III http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaxton#The_Paramount_era http://www.plaxton2007.co.uk/britains_leading_coachbuilder_p1.html the other available Elite coach was the Elite Express with wider side door. |

Don't you think it looks too long for a PSU4? |

You're right - I've finally found a photograph of WUL262N - this one's too long: http://coaches-aplenty.fotopic.net/p35368499.html I've also traced a batch of eight earlier Leopards new to BOAC, GMF702-9J, 702-5 were extra long PSU5/4R, 706-9 were PSU3B/4R model; also three PSU3B/4R new to BEA, DAR524-6K. My guess would be this is a PSU3B/4R. -- Last edit: 2008-02-18 01:04:15 |
