The 56 Studebaker Flitehawk has a different rear treatment on the trunk lid, see pic ![]() |

Agreed Mike. I think it's an earlier model, circa 1953/54...before they started to slather all that chrome and fins on it. -- Last edit: 2007-04-08 05:30:04 |

Appears to be missing rear trim. '53 to '55. Agree not Hawk unless modified. |

I think that car was a Studebaker Commander 1955, like the photo of this link: Link to "www.eons.com" thank you very much emanuele |

Emanic linked this car from a different thread and I took another look at it. Just noticed the rear window area is trimmed like the '56 Golden Hawk but the car clearly does not have Hawk rear fenders or trunk lid. The rear lamps appear of the '53-'54 style. Believe this car is an amalgam of different Studebaker components. Could be a '56 Golden Hawk with a '53/'54 rear clip attached. Would like a look at the front. -- Last edit: 2013-07-25 23:57:57 |

no shot from the front, sorry |

OK. Will just leave at 1953 as first of possible years. |

The more I look the more it seems like a multi-part/multi year mix. Doesn't it seem as if there is a fender top ornament in the linked photo (Hawk component) yet a smooth non-Hawk type hood? Clearly '56 Golden Hawk rear roof treatment but equally clear non-Hawk trunk lid and rear taillamp areas. Don't really know what to list this as other than Studebaker modified. Could still leave as '53 if we like (as first possible year) but more and more, I'm coming to the conclusion this car began life as a '56 Golden Hawk. Another problem. All '53-'56 hardtops had sculpted front doors but this car doesn't appear to. The door may be off a '57/'58 Golden Hawk, making this vehicle even more of a mongrel. I will copy and paste this post into the linked page. -- Last edit: 2013-07-27 21:27:22 |
