Must be a modified Toyota Hilux |

Actually, it's a modified Toyota SR5 XtraCab. |

Finally we have one "SR5 XtraCab" in something else than "Back to the Future"! |

With that grille design and hump on the hood this reminds me of a LaForza. |

I did the graphics on this truck in 1989, it was rented from a friend in Orange COunty, Ca. The truck was a diesel powered unit imported from Denmark in 1988, by a shadowy guy who claimed to be an AMG distributor overseas. I ws doing some car-wrangling at the time, the truck and the scoop were PERFECT for the role and the producers loved it! Rented it for 5 weeks at a cost of over $10k... I thought it was one of the very best Columbos ever made... ALl of the custom stuff was really custom stuff... lots of step plate, tube grille, and all the lights worked but it was S L O W! |

So if it was a grey import from Denmark was it really a Hilux and not a Truck? |

I'd say so. |

At least 4 stars. The car is part of the murder plot. |

Is there a Germany (Hamburg HH) red export plate ("Exportkennzeichen") under the US plate? |

At least H-something. Anyway, Diesel, Euro-spec and Xtracab ? This has to be an [LN65], built from August 1986 to August 1988. |
