Chevrolet B-Series - Blue Bird |

Seems indeed to be a Chevrolet. But as far as I know, there no way to tell a 1967-78 S-Series over a 1979-84 B-Series. Shouldn't we keep them as S-Series for consistency? |

@elmer- Prior to 1966 it was an S-Series. Afterwards a B-Series nomenclature was used from 1966 thru 1983 with that particular grille https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet/GMC_B-Series The few 1966-8 buses listed as S-Series are labeled incorrectly and should be changed to a B-Series and if you look at the database 99.99% of the buses are labeled as such...Conversely, there are @5 that are listed as a B-Series that should be labeled an S It is a Chevrolet B-Series with a Blue Bird body -- Last edit: 2017-01-28 13:51:46 |

The WP page is unsourced, as I told you many, many times, so not trustworthy. All the more as the B-Series name didn't appear before 1979 in Chevrolet and GMC documents. 1967-78 models identified as B-Series in the IMCDb are therefore misidentified, whether you like it or not. (1968 & 1977 brochure excerpts) And for the record, the cab change took place during the 1984 model year, so a 1984 B-Series with the former face is possible: -- Last edit: 2017-01-29 06:22:56 |

If I can locate some dealer brochures re Chevy school buses from the 1970's that I hopefully still have and if they say B-Series I will be have to send you a scan.. Until then |

@elmer - And for the record, the cab change took place during the 1984 model year, so a 1984 B-Series with the former face is possible I found a 1981 and 1982 Chevrolet bus chassis catalog that ids them as a B-Series. -- Last edit: 2017-01-30 14:03:34 |

Did you really read what I wrote??? I never said that a "1967 face" couldn't be a B-Series, just that it can't be one before 1979, and that the change from "1967 face" to "1984 face" (as bus) took place in January 1984. So yes, some are B-Series, but not all of them, as proven several times. Or, in other words: • 1967-78 : S-Series; • 1979-84 : B-Series with the same face as the 1967-78 models. The problem is that nothing can help us to differentiate the old models from the newer ones when no badge or registration number is visible, so it sounds logical to use the first and more used name to identify them for consistency. End of story. Unless you find a serious cross-checked source saying the opposite, please accept this proven fact. |

Thanks for the share, supcoach, it reminded me that I had to do some more search about some GMC models. But I already use this site for reference for a bit more than 2 years, now For the record, there's a lighter non-pdf version in the same site (but of course less extensive). |
